Welcome to AUMC

Welcome to Albany United Methodist Church. We are a church, faith community with "Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors". All God's people are welcome, young and old, settled or just visiting, with different life styles and orientations, all are welcome to God's house.
Our friendly and enthusiastic pastor is Dr. Sangyil Park. We have Church services at 10:00 AM every Sunday, with fellowship luncheon after services. We are blessed to have a congregation that includes all races and many different nationalities. People are really all alike, but their cooking is different! At fellowship time we enjoy delicious new dishes. You are welcome to join us!
We have a wonderful organist and choir. There is a lively Sunday school. A Bible Study group meets every week. Members lead prayer meetings. We have a "women's respite" group with inspirational talks. Our congregation is active in community outreach. We give generously to Food Banks and assist other churches in their Food Bank services. We sing Christmas carols at Retirement homes. We are part of a prison ministry at a San Francisco Country jail at Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
We, the Albany United Methodist Church, celebrated our 100th anniversary in May, 2007. In 1906 refugees from the San Francisco earthquake and fire settled in the East Bay area that became Albany. At fist people met for their religious services in private homes. In 1907 as they grew in numbers, and wanting a Sunday School for their children, they formed a congregation. Eventually they purchased land, became incorporated in 1926, and in 1927 the cornerstone was laid for the church building at Marin and Stannage avenues in Albany, which has been in constant use since that time.
We share our facilities with some non-profit groups: A congregation, the Korean Zion Presbyterian Church, uses the church on Sunday afternoon, and during the week. We give meeting space to Brownie Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts. The City and County use our facilities for voting precincts. The East Bay Herigate Quiters, " EBHQ". National Association of Retired Federal Employees, "NARFE". National Association for the Mentally I11. " NAMI". TOPS..A weight loss group. "Take Off Pounds Sensibly." Hospice group of Kaiser Hospitals for their annual Memorial Service.
